Metamorphosis of a Character

I was languishing in the incapacitating grip of hopelessness when I felt it approach. 

I shivered, then quivered as it drew nearer...

And, just behind my ear, in a breathy baritone growled a single word.

I giggled... and something broke. 

I burst into maniacal laughter and was hurled skyward in sudden intoxicating flight, and the night was alive!
